Y’all know I’m a sucker for a good nautical wedding, and Kristin & Taylor’s did not disappoint! Despite the crazy winds and ongoing rain, the Gilden wedding was such a beautiful day! They tied the knot at their private family home on the waterfront in Queenstown, Maryland, overlooking the beautiful Wye River. The eastern shore always blows my mind with its beauty!
The day was full of soft silver touches, navy blue tones, and nautical details. Their first look was sweet and intimate – and was perfectly timed! The rain began to fall right as we finished their bridal portraits. We decided to head right into family and bridal party portraits and hoped the rain would hold off. The great part about getting married on your own property is that you can be totally flexible!
As guests partied on at cocktail hour, unfortunately the rain didn’t let up like we had hoped. So, we continued on with the ceremony under the tent! It was a beautiful, sentimental, and funny ceremony, which led right on in to the reception! I kind of loved going right from those sweet moments into the party! The reception was so amazing, and I almost forgot it was pouring outside the tent all night!!! They even dedicated a dance to Kristin’s grandmother – who also happened to be celebrating her 85th birthday! The food was amazing, the dance floor was packed, the cake smash was LIT, and everyone had a great time. They say rain on your wedding day is good luck – and I’d say that’s true so far!
Her aunt’s pearls were a beautiful touch!
A windy but sweet first look moment on the pier!
This was the arch where the ceremony was to be held, but Mother Nature had other plans! 😛 I’m so glad we were able to use it for photos before the skies opened up!
These florals were SO beautiful!!!
Super thankful for this gorgeous covered porch – and super thankful for wedding coordinator Katie for holding an umbrella over me the whole time!!!
Their long awaited first kiss as husband and wife – 10 years in the making!
I love the oyster shell seating chart!
A sweet donut-cutting moment quickly turned into a brutal cupcake smash!!!
Mission BBQ catered and it was DELICIOUS.
It was pitch dark out on the dock for night portraits, and I couldn’t see a thing so this came out a bit shaky – but I love it anyway!
